Operation Take Back New Jersey

April 14, 2018

The Drug Enforcement Administration, New Jersey Division, has announced “Operation Take Back New Jersey” a one day program to provide a safe and legal method for the citizens of New Jersey to dispose their unwanted, unused, un-needed and expired medicines.

A collection box will be located at the Califon Municipal Building, 39 Academy Street, Califon, NJ, and the collection date is Saturday, April 28th, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

The program is anonymous and all efforts have been made to protect the anonymity of individuals disposing of medications. There will be an officer from the Washington Township Police Department present to maintain the security of the collection box, but they will not ask for identification or examine any material being disposed of.

Non pharmaceutical, illicit drugs may also be disposed of.

You may either dispose of the medication in its original container, or by retaining the original container, and placing its contents into the collection container. Liquid products, such as cough medicine, should remain in their original containers. The depositor should ensure the cap is sealed to prevent any leakage. Depositors are encouraged to remove prescription labels from medicines so as to ensure complete anonymity.

We are sorry, but Syringes and other sharp instruments are not part of the program, and are not being accepted at this time.

If you have any questions, please contact the Washington Township Police Department at 908-876-8300.
